February 11, 2009—Chicago’s first Literary Death Match was a debut to remember, as The Hideout was filled with a litany of literary talent, culminating with local favorite Megan Stielstra (Dollar Store Reading Series) claimed the LDM crown by out-stabbing-a-hole-in-Nebraska against Rachel Yoder (Quick Fiction).
Opium’s Literary Death Match SF, Episode 3 at The Rickshaw Stop shined bright, and left the cheering audience in stitches. For the first time ever, the LDM strayed from their writers-representing-literary journals model, and invited four of SF’s outstanding reading series’ to elect a past reader to participate.
August 21, 2007—Opium’s Literary Death Match SF, Episode 2, was an absolutely inspired success. Breaking the LDM attendance record, the latest event pulled in 170 rowdy, rally-crying supporters (“And all of them good-looking,” said one attendee). It was also the first-ever LDM episode to feature product placement, as co-host Todd Zuniga sported a eye-catching necktie created by the minds of Medium Reality.
