For our annual Austin drop-in to the Texas Book Festival, we're celebrating Literary Death Match's 500th show at Lit Crawl Austin — with our first-ever show at Cheer Up Charlies! What is Literary Death Match? Part literary event, part comedy show, part game show, Literary Death Match brings together four of today’s finest writers to compete in an edge-of-your-seat read-off critiqued by three celebrity judges, and concluded by a slapstick showdown to decide the ultimate champion.


Literary Merit: Mary Norris, author of Greek to Me: Adventures of the Comma Queen and former New Yorker copy editor

Performanced: Andrea Lawlor, author of Paul Takes the Form of a Mortal Girl, a 2018 Lambda Literary finalist

Intangibles: Dalia Azim, manager of special projects at the Blanton Museum of Art and winner of Glimmer Train‘s Short Story Award for New Writers

* Ryan Chapman, author of the debut novel Riots I Have Known and Conversation Sparks
