November 10, 2011 — Before a lively crowd at Alphabet City's Drom (only feet from where Literary Death Match was conceived 68 months before), Literary Death Match NYC turned 40 episodes old, and finished with a breakneck ending in which Team Teddy Wayne out-Cyrillic'd Team Angela Lovell by a final score of 8-4, winning Wayne the coveted LDM crown.

Pittsburgh, Ep. 1

November 9, 2011 — Before a jovial crowd at Brillobox, the Literary Death Match made Pittsburgh it's 38th city worldwide with a wild night of literary and comedic heroics — presented by the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre — that saw Team Lori Jakiela outduel Team Jimmy Cvetic in a Pulitzer-themed Cyrllic Off, with a down-to-the-wire 9-7 victory, winning Jakiela the LDM crown.

DC, Ep. 2

November 8, 2011 — Before a wonderfully packed house, the 826DC-presented epic at DC9 will go down as one of the great word-for-word readings in LDM history, finishing with Sacha Scoblic out-jump-shooting her co-finalist Vijai Nathan in a back-and-forth battle of Down with Book Burners! basketball. Scoblic snared an airtight 5-4 victory, winniner her the LDM DC, Ep. 2 title.

Philadelphia, Ep. 2

November 7, 2011 — Before a sold-out house at the gorgeous World Cafe Live, Literary Death Match's epic return to the City of Brotherly Love — presented by Painted Bride Quarterly — finished with slam poet Michael O’Hara out-scoring the inimitable Sean Toner by a 6-4 margin in a literary spelling bee for the ages, winning O'Hara the Literary Death Match crown.

Toronto, Ep. 3

November 6, 2011 — In what will go down as an instant-lit-classic at Gladstone Hotel, The National Post-sponsored Toronto, pre-Giller Prize epic went down to the wire, with Dani Couture storming back from a 10-3 deficit to snare a last-letter victory over Grace O’Connell by a score of 12-11 in a literary spelling bee-off that won Couture the LDM Toronto crown.

November 3, 2011 — In what's being hailed "the feel-good literary event of Dublin's year" it was Peter Sheridan who shined brightest amongst the e'er twinkling lit-and-comic stars at The Workman's Club, winning a literary spelling bee by only a smidgen (6-5) over poetess Erin Fornoff to win himself the Literary Death Match crown.

The night finished with a historic beard-enthused battle that saw Jacques Strauss score a five-beard run to out-beard co-finalist John Osborne by a score of 7 beards to 2. What are we talking about? October 22, 2011 — In what will go down in literary history as a Texas Book Festival classic, Literary Death Match held court at the Paramount Theatre with an uber-all-star lineup, and before a packed house of 470, Martha Hall Foose outscored Charles Yu 2,589 to 2,504 in a Books by Numbers finale that won Foose the Literary Death Match crown.

Twin Cities, Ep. 5

October 20, 2011 — In an epic confrontation in the land of 10,000 lakes (though we only counted 15 from our plane window), the Nomad World Pub played house to one of the most electrifying comeback victories in LDM history as winner Peter Bognanni overcame a 5-1 "Cyrillic-Off" deficit to storm to a 8-6 win over brilliant co-finalist Cole “Inky” Sarar, winning him the Literary Death Match crown.
