For the first time in two whole years, Literary Death Match is returning to Ogden, Utah! We're once again partnering with the Utah Humanities Book Festival for a wondrous, life-affirming night at Ogden's Union Station that you simply CANNOT miss. And to grease the literary wheels: we're doing it for FREE. No excuses!

Here's the full lineup for the night: 

ALL-STAR JUDGES: 

Literary Merit: Rone Shavers, writer and Associate Professor of English at the University of Utah whose work explores Afrofuturism and experimental literature. He’s the author of Silverfish, an Afrofuturist experimental novel, and Ten Crônicas, a collection of prose poems

Performance: Lisa Bickmore, Utah Poet Laureate and founder of Lightscatter Press. She’s the author of Haste, flicker (winner of the Antivenom Poetry Award), and Ephemerist

Intangibles: Brandon Long, Ogden podcaster, producer and co-founder of The Banyan Collective, the arts-and-adventure podcast network behind Ogden Arts & Adventure and Van Sessions, the live music podcast recorded at The Monarch

Round 1:
* Dax Gove, writer, educator and scholar whose work focuses on place, environmental rhetoric and the American West. His graduate research at Utah State examined how Indigenous and settler texts construct the people and landscapes of Cache Valley

* Michael McLane, poet, essayist and editor whose work explores landscape, environment and the Intermountain West. He’s the author of the poetry chapbooks Fume and Trace Elements and a founding editor of saltfront

Round 2:
* Dr. Ukamaka Olisakwe, Nigerian novelist, screenwriter and Assistant Professor of English at Weber State University. She’s the author of Ogadinma and Don’t Answer When They Call Your Name, and was selected for Africa39’s list of promising writers under 40

* Moudi Sbeity, Lebanese-American poet, author and contemplative educator. He’s the author of Alhamdulillah Anyway, his debut poetry collection, and the memoir Habibi Means Beloved; he was also a named plaintiff in the case that brought marriage equality to Utah
