October 15, 2019 — To celebrate our 500th show, Literary Death Match returned to Litquake, as old is new again for our debut at The Valencia Room, in which a team of Lauren Markham and Ingrid Rojas Contreras teamed up to topple Nazelah Jamison in a tight LDM Cabinet of Non-Wonders finale to win Markham and Contreras the SF, Ep. 69 crown and literary immortality to go with it.

What is Literary Death Match? Part literary event, part comedy show, part game show, Literary Death Match brings together four of today’s finest writers to compete in an edge-of-your-seat read-off critiqued by three celebrity judges, and concluded by a slapstick showdown to decide the ultimate champion.

Judges: 

Literary Merit: Grant Faulkner, Executive Director of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and the co-founder of 100 Word Story

Performance: Micheal Foulk, writer, comedian, and co-creator of the national LGBTQ+ oral history and storytelling organization Greetings, from Queer Mountain

Intangibles: Maisha Z. Johnsonaward-winning writer, author of the poetry collection, No Parachutes to Carry Me Homeand Through Your Own Words: 51 Writing Prompts for Healing and Self-Care
