SF, Ep. 60

March 23, 2016 — Our 10-Year Anniversary series of celebrations, Literary Death Match returned to LDM's spiritual home — the City by the Bay — for a ultra-fun night of calamity, literature and genius at the glorious Alamo Drafthous that saw Zahra Noorbakhsh narrowly outduel Shanthi Sekaran in a Lone Star Lit finale that went all the way to overtime to win Noorbakhsh the LDM SF, Ep. 60 crown.

SF, Ep. 53

August 16, 2014 — Before summer's swelter abandoned the Bay, Literary Death Match returned for a Saturday night of literary battle and comedic irreverance that ended with Carolina De Robertis outdueling Joshua Merchant in an epic Pulitzer Prize-themed Cyrillic Off by a score of 55-39 to win De Robertis the LDM SF, Ep. 53 crown.

NYC, Ep. 10

The LDM (Ep. 10) returned to NYC’s finest venue (The Kitchen) for a party that doubled as the Opium7:7 NYC launch. The result: an event that shook Chelsea with a blare of talent, whimsy and ridiculousness. Once the dust and invisible bullets had settled, Guerrilla Lit Reading Series representative Dennis DiClaudio out-Laser Tagged co-finalist, and L Magazine Literary Upstart rep Lincoln Michel in a three-round duel that won DiClaudio the LDM title.

SF, Ep. 9

In the most ambitious Literary Death Match ever--an “All-Star” event featuring past SF winners, judges and hosts--Andrew Lam (the winner of SF’s Episode 7), trumped all with his blindly skilled placement of Leatherface’s body (yes, the chainsaw murderer in cardboard cut-out form) onto the oversized, two-dimensional heads of great literary figures/past LDM champs: Daniel Handler, Bucky Sinister and Rupert Estanislao. The feat was witnessed by 190 laughing fans at the Rickshaw Stop, who cheered wildly (and confusingly) at the finale.

SF, Ep. 5

For Opium’s fifth-ever west coast LDM (SF, Episode 5) at Harlot, stars aligned as four wickedly talented (and outstandingly hilarious) actors from the legendary Killing My Lobster comedy troupe stormed the stage and read from past print issues of Opium Magazine.
